Permanent hair removal

Unwanted hair on the face, in the armpits, in the bikini zone, on the back and on the legs can be permanently reduced with laser light. How well the treatment responds depends above all on the hair colour.

Overview

Unwanted hair on the face, in the armpit area, in the bikini zone as well as on the back and on the legs can be permanently reduced with laser light. The laser light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair; the darker the hair, the better it responds. Vellus (downy) hair responds only very poorly to the treatment, and blond or grey hair can, if at all, only be treated after prior dyeing with special colourants.

For this we mainly work with two diode lasers, the LightSheer and the Vectus. For darker skin types the long-pulse Nd:YAG laser comes into consideration; its light penetrates deeper and is absorbed less by the skin pigment. A long-pulse ruby laser is also available; intense pulsed light (IPL) is reserved for special indications.

As a rule five to eight sessions are needed; the intervals depend on the body region. We do not treat after time in the sun, because higher energy levels can be used on light skin. Procedure, session intervals, risks and aftercare are described on the detailed treatment page.
