LightSheer® diode laser
A diode laser with a cooled handpiece and a small laser spot. We use it for hair removal on small areas such as the upper lip, chin and cheeks, and where sensitivity to pain is pronounced.
Overview
The LightSheer is a diode laser made by Lumenis that we use for laser hair removal. It works with a cooled handpiece, delivers up to 60 joules per square centimetre and can be set to pulse lengths between 10 and 400 milliseconds. Together this allows the hair follicles to be obliterated precisely.
Its laser spot is small at 0.81 square centimetres. That makes it suitable for small surfaces such as the upper lip, chin and cheeks: there, even high energy densities can be applied, and as a rule they are tolerated with little discomfort.
For larger areas such as the back, chest, abdomen, underarm, bikini area and legs we use the Vectus diode laser with its much larger laser spot. We therefore use the LightSheer for laser hair removal above all on small areas and where sensitivity to pain is pronounced.
