INFINI™ RF microneedling
In radiofrequency microneedling, fine needles deliver heat energy in the depth of the skin and stimulate new collagen formation there, while the skin surface is largely spared. We use the INFINI system for acne scars, loss of skin firmness and excessive sweating.
Overview
Fractional radiofrequency microneedling combines two principles: the finest needles, which are introduced into the skin, and radiofrequency, which generates heat in the tissue. In the INFINI system the needles release their energy only at depth; a heat pulse is delivered at the needle tip within milliseconds. The epidermis is only minimally affected, because the needles pass through it without releasing heat and deliver the energy only in the deeper layers. That keeps the strain on the skin surface low and reduces the sensation of pain.
The treatment head carries 49 needles whose penetration depth can be set between 0.5 and 3.5 millimetres; we adjust needle length and energy to the region and the skin, often in several passes with staggered depths. Around each needle tip a small coagulation zone forms in the collagen layer. It triggers the body's own repair processes: growth factors are released, and connective tissue cells form new collagen and elastin over weeks to months (collagen neogenesis). In this way the skin can tighten and sunken scars can be lifted from within; the result builds up gradually and differs from person to person.
The fields of application include acne scars, loss of skin firmness and wrinkles, enlarged pores, surgical and burn scars as well as stretch marks. A further field is increased sweating in the armpits (hyperhidrosis): here the heat pulses of the needle tips ablate the sweat glands; the treatment is carried out under an anaesthetic cream, cold anaesthesia or both. Procedure, number of sessions, downtime, risks and contraindications are described on the treatment page on radiofrequency microneedling; the prerequisites for acne scars and the approach for hyperhidrosis and stretch marks can be found on the respective indication pages.
Areas of application
- Loss of firmness of skin that has slackened with age, skin tightening
- Facial wrinkles, such as smoker's lines and crow's feet, as well as fine crepey lines
- Enlarged pores and increased sebum production
- Acne scars, once the active acne has healed
- Surgical and burn scars
- Pregnancy and stretch marks
- Excessive sweating in the armpits (hyperhidrosis)
